Rocktron Deep Blue Chorus
from Guitar One Magazine December 2004
by Michael Ross
Intro
In the ’80s, Rocktron made its bones as a producer of high-quality rack gear for guitarists. In keeping with the current trend in pedals, the folks in Michigan have turned their know-how of rack sounds to a new series of the stompboxes.
Rocktron’s pedals are housed in colorful metal casings. Despite thier extremely solid feel, the pedals are relatively light. Checken-head knobs add a retro vibe that, oddly enough, works with the high-tech casing design.
The Deep Blue Chorus is a multi-voiced chorus pedal. The Rate control adjusts the modulation speed, and the Depth knob controls the amount of modulation. A welcome Intensity control varies the overall mix of chorus added to your signal. This last control is a boon, since too much chorus can not only sound terribly dated but also muddy up rapid-fire leads.
That said, the Deep Blue Chorus offers a rich chime, along with true analog warmth.
